Windows Creations Tour Review
Twenty members of our congregation, including Pastor Dave, boarded a motor coach at 9:45asm to travel to Fort Jennings, Ohio to visit Window Creations Stained Glass Studios.
This is the company hired to restore the 130 year old stained glass windows in our church. They are one of the few premier stained glass restoration companies in the country. This costly restoration is being funded through our Capital Campaign in the amount of over $330,000.00.
We stopped at Lock 16 Restaurant in Lima, recommended by David & Maryann Emrick who moved to London from Lima several years ago. It proved to be the perfect placeāall reviews of the restaurant food and service were very positive.
The tour was so interesting and we got to see some of our windows in different stages of restoration. We were amazed by the wide range of products this company produces . It is a family owned business and we met several of the family members including the founder and president Reggie Buehrer. Reggie and his son Jason, who has been on site at our church several days working with his crew, led the tour, tag teaming to explain the different areas of the operation.
There were lots of questions about the different processes each window goes through to restore it, and there were so many more steps than we anticipated!
The project is not complete, but if you have a chance to walk around the building, you will see some windows which now have storm windows installed and are finished. You will see some window openings boarded up which means the window is at Window Creations for restoration. And many days you will see skilled technicians on lifts working on a window.
When the project has been completed, and with the new storm windows, our beautiful stained glass windows should be good for the next 130 years!
