Liturgist

Print Email

The word liturgy comes from the Greek meaning “work of the people”. Working together with the Pastor, the liturgist leads the congregation in worship.  In a typical Sunday morning worship service, the liturgist will lead the congregation in the Morning Prayer, Prayer of Confession and the first scripture reading.  The prayers and scripture reading are provided to the liturgist during the week prior to the service, so there is plenty of time to become familiar with the readings.

Liturgists are scheduled monthly, so twelve volunteers are needed each year. The Worship Ministry sincerely thanks everyone who is currently serving the church as a liturgist.  The current ushering schedule can be found by clicking the link below.  Anyone who would be interested serving as a liturgist or have a question about this ministry please contact the Church Office.
